Web design and online booking for plant & equipment hire

Fleet pages, live availability, hire requests and collections in one place. Built to load fast and get found.

5.0

Plant and equipment hire used in construction.

Hire requests with the details

Machine, dates, site address and wet or dry hire captured up front, so you can confirm without phoning back.

No more double bookings

Availability runs off a single calendar, so a machine can’t be promised to two sites for the same day.

Collection without the phone call

Customers book a collection from their phone when the job’s done, so the machine comes back sooner and the end date is on record.

WHAT WE BUILD

Built around how equipment gets hired

A hire goes through a lot of hands between the first call and the machine coming back to the depot. These features keep every step in one place, from the booking to the collection.

Fleet Catalogue

Every machine with its specs, attachments, photos and day, week and month rates, filtered by type, size and wet or dry hire, so a site manager can pick the right unit without phoning.

Live Availability & Hire Requests

Customers pick a machine and dates, see straight away whether it's free, and send a hire request with the site address and delivery time. No more double-booked machines.

Agreements, Checks & Deposits

New customers upload ID and company documents, sign the hire agreement online and pay a deposit, all before the machine leaves the depot.

Delivery & Collection

Transport priced by distance from your depot, with delivery and collection slots booked alongside the hire, so the driver's day is planned before the phone rings.

Operator & Compliance Records

Operator certificates, load test certificates and service history attached to each machine, ready for a site safety officer to download when they ask.

Customer Portal

Everything a customer has on hire, collection (off-hire) requests, breakdown reports, invoices and statements behind one login, so hires don't run on by accident.

What a plant hire website costs

Pricing starts at R22,000. What moves the price most is whether you need live availability, and whether the site has to connect to rental software you already use. We’ll tell you which is worth it before you commit.

  • Essential site, from R22,000: a fast, well-built site with your fleet, rates and the areas you deliver to, and a hire request form that takes the machine, dates and site address.
  • Fleet and bookings, from R38,000: adds a full fleet catalogue with filters, an availability calendar for every machine, online hire requests with delivery booked in, and a page for each machine type and area you cover.
  • Full hire system, from R60,000: adds customer accounts with online agreements, document checks and deposits, a customer portal showing what’s on hire, with collection requests and invoices, and a connection to your rental or accounting software.
  • Ongoing care, from R1,500 a month: hosting, updates, backups, security and small changes, usually done within one business day.

Why it costs what it does

Measure a site like this against the hires it wins and the days it stops you losing. One machine out for an extra week, or one hire that doesn’t run on because nobody called it off, can cover a large part of the build.

Spread over three years, a R38,000 build works out to just over R1,000 a month. That’s less than a single day’s TLB hire, and the site takes bookings every day of the month.

A cheaper site will list your machines. It won’t stop double bookings, collect deposits or show a customer what they still have on hire. What we build is planned around how your business actually runs, and tested with real bookings before launch. That takes weeks, and the price reflects it.

DC Installations, a duct and steel manufacturer in East London, brought in R80,000 in the first three weeks of their new site.

Every quote is fixed and broken into lines, so you can see what each part costs and leave out what you don’t need.

THE PROCESS

How your site gets built

01

Meeting & Listening

First we talk about how your business actually runs.

How hires come in now, how you price wet and dry hire, how you keep track of which machine is on which site, and what goes wrong between booking and collection. No forms and no brief to fill in. One conversation usually covers it.

02

Scope & Fixed Price

You get a price before anything starts, and it does not move.

We write up exactly what is being built, broken down so you can see what each part costs on its own, with a date for when it will be finished. Nothing begins until you are happy with both.

03

Design

We lay the pages out around the way your customers actually buy.

Not a stock layout with your logo dropped into it. You see every page before a line of code exists, which is the stage where changing your mind costs nothing but a conversation.

04

Your Sign-Off

Nothing gets built until you have said yes to the design.

You tell us what to change and we change it. This is the cheapest point in the whole job to be picky, so we would rather you were picky here than after it is built.

05

Build

The site gets built, and you watch it happen.

You get a link to see it coming together rather than waiting to be shown the finished article. Anything that needs adjusting gets adjusted while we are still in there working on it.

06

Testing & Launch

You book a real hire through it before your customers do.

A real booking, agreement and collection request run through a test account, checked on phones, tablets and desktop. Then we handle the switch-over, the domain and the email. Your old site stays live until the new one is ready.

07

Maintenance & Support

We stay on it after launch.

Updates, backups and security handled in the background. When something needs changing, it comes straight to us and is usually done within one business day.

“We relied on word of mouth for over 40 years and never saw the need for a website. Within weeks of launching we already had an order come through it. SouthLine understood what we do and built something that genuinely represents us.”

Frequently asked questions

Most essential sites are live three to four weeks after you approve the quote. Sites with live availability or a customer portal take six to ten weeks, depending mostly on the size of your fleet and how you track bookings today. You’ll get a finish date in writing before we start.

50% deposit to start, 25% once you’ve approved the design, and the final 25% before the site goes live. The price is fixed, so it won’t change halfway through unless you ask us to add something.

Not much. After one conversation, we’ll need photos of your fleet, your rate sheet and your hire terms. We write the page content and you approve it before anything goes live.

Yes. Deposits can be paid by card or EFT when a hire is confirmed, with the amount set per machine or per customer. Account customers can skip the deposit and hire on terms.

No. If your rental software can share availability and bookings, the site connects to it so there’s still only one calendar. If it can’t, the site keeps its own calendar that your team updates. We’ll check which applies before we quote.

Yes. Each machine can be offered with or without an operator at different rates, and the hire request asks which one the customer needs.

For a site that takes quotes, orders or bookings, we’d say yes. From R1,500 a month, we look after hosting, updates, backups and security, and make small changes within one business day. Your site connects to forms, email and the systems you already use, and those connections need regular updates to keep working. Without that care, things can stop working without anyone noticing.

We’re based in East London but work with businesses across South Africa. Meetings happen by video call, and everything else by email or phone.

Yes. Once your site is live, we can also look after the work that keeps enquiries coming in:

  • Ongoing SEO: new service and area pages, articles and monthly improvements, so you show up for more of the searches your customers make.
  • Social media management: regular posts on Facebook and Instagram, from R2,000 a month.
  • Ad management: Google and Meta ads set up and managed, with a monthly report on what you’re getting for your spend.
